¶ Opportunity Selection
¶ What it is
After we discover a list of opportunities, we need to review them with key stakeholders and prioritise the most significant opportunities to seek now and which opportunities we can leave for next or even for a longer term.
¶ Why it is useful
It helps us to reflect on the current strategy and make informative decisions for selecting the right opportunity as the next step.
¶ When to use it
When we need to make concrete next steps based on the discovered opportunities.
¶ How is it done
- Bring in the key stakeholders and arrange a discussion meeting to review, discuss and prioritise identified opportunities.
- Quickly recap all opportunities and ask the team whether we want to add any additional ones for consideration. Is there anything missing?
- Organise the voting exercise, and each stakeholder selects the top opportunities we should seek now, next, and later.
- Summarise the selected opportunities and discussion again whether we confirm this selection, adjust if necessary.

Do's
- Try to be as objective as possible and use data wherever possible for the selection.
- Discuss the reasons for the votes.
- Key stakeholders should understand the rationale behind each opportunity before placing their votes.
- Company business objectives and resources need to be considered as well.
