¶ What is this Playbook?
This playbook is a step-by-step guide from Zero to One to transform DZFM’s project management process into software management with end-to-end innovation capabilities. The playbook covers the whole process of how a new, innovative product is discovered, validated, defined, produced, and brought to the market for scale. In a nutshell, this new process consists of four phases: Discovery (learn and define problems), Validation (come up with, select and test solutions), Production (creation of solutions), and Support & Scale (launch, maintenance, and expansion of solutions).
This playbook will guide you through activities, tools, and templates, enabling you to understand and drive design thinking, lean start-up, and agile methodologies in the right combination. Everyone will have access to templates that can be printed and used accordingly based on a different stage of this end-to-end process or different roles and responsibilities. While the tools and templates provided in this playbook are comprehensive, you are encouraged to continue studying additional resources and update this playbook to fulfil your latest needs. This field constantly evolves, and new ideas/methods/tools keep developing in the market.
¶ Who is this playbook for?
This playbook provides a framework that offers guidance when:
- Looking for new ideas and opportunities for product & service
- Building up product concepts from ideas
- Confirming and testing business values for PoC
- Building up and scaling products
It was created to help the DZFM Team to guide themselves and collaboratively develop new, innovative solutions designed with people at the centre. Customers can decide which activities and tools are needed for each challenge.
¶ What is the final output?
The DZFM playbook gives an accessible process to help teams make change happen.
Whether one or all of the activities are used, following this process will build skills, gain knowledge, and solve challenges collectively. This playbook can help improve various skills: critical thinking, systematic thinking, customer-centric thinking, listening to others, asking better questions, generating ideas, creating better stories, and inspiring and sustaining collective actions.
¶ How do I make the most use of this playbook?
First of all, there are four basic ways to learn about this process and search for relevant tools we recommend:
- Read the overview and basic intro first (to have a big picture and navigation of different processes in mind)
- Learn the whole process phase by phase (the phase is built from zero, you can select any phase for a deep dive and study details that are most relevant to your current work)
- Identify appropriate materials for your role (you may choose your role on the homepage to review all relevant content and tools you might need for your daily work)
- Search what you need by keywords or detailed ToC (once you are familiar with the basic process, you may search directly with keywords or check the ToC and go to the linked page right away)
Tips
- No matter how you like to find your materials, we recommend you read the overview first with the big picture in mind so that you can navigate yourself better for a search later.
- Knowing is only half of the work; applying tools in your daily work is the best way to understand this process.
